January's Curious Obsessions

So, it's January, which means it's the perfect excuse to hit that "refresh" button and think about things we want to change... and whist we write down our goals for the year (we hate resolutions!), we've also turned our thoughts to a bit of redecorating around the house. Nothing too drastic, but to help us embrace new ways of thinking, a few new visual queues and points of interest just might motivate us (for a few weeks anyways)...

Something as simple as changing around the artwork in the house can have such a big impact, especially in the rooms you use the most. We've been coveting Simone's artwork for a while now and this gorgeous limited edition print could be just the thing to give the Living Room a much needed injection of colour and intrigue.

Well, 2017 might just be the year we finally embrace the Gallery Wall... got some many bits and pieces that need hanging and displaying but our total ineptitude in hanging anything is severely getting in the way. Perhaps this mirrored shelf will be the perfect introduction? Although...

... perhaps this more realistically priced shelf unit might me a bit more practical after all of the Christmas splurging! Now that green is "officially in" (thanks to Pantone), this stunning marble piece can provide a real showstopping moment to achieve that floating picture shelf we keep meaning to put up.

Wallpaper dilemma! You know here at The Curious Department we love to fuse natural beauty with geometric shapes and patterns, but we are totally torn (no pun intended!) between two diametrically opposed wallpapers. First up is a new Kelly Hoppen design for Graham & Brown, with a stunning gold and geometric lined design that will immediately add a playful yet sophisticated vibe to the Living Room. Then also up for consideration is the gold and marble wallpaper by Mural... made to measure to fit the wall and resemble one large slab of fabulousness. Is it too pretentious? Or is it aspirational? We remain undecided between the modern and the classic!
